Synopsis

In 2012, conflict erupted in north of Mali, a country rich in musical tradition and ethnic diversity. Sahel Calling explores how musicians in the country are responding to the crisis, as a state of emergency in the capitol Bamako and threats from jihadists in the north have left many of them unable to pursue their livelihood.
