Bio

Ginger Gentile is best known for directing "Erasing Dad" (Borrando a Papá, 2014) and "Goals for Girls: a story of women with balls" (Mujeres con Pelotas, 2014). Both feature documentaries focus on gender stereotypes: “Erasing Dad” focuses on fathers being discriminated against in child custody cases after divorce and “Goals” on the fight of slum girls to play a sport off limits to women in Argentina: football. "Erasing" was censored in Argentina due to its brutal exposé of family courts and was the most talked about film of the year. She is currently working on a follow up film that will be international and focus on the harm that children suffer when they can´t see their moms or dads. After graduating from Columbia University, Ginger moved to Buenos Aires where she worked on independent films and filmed more than 70 short documentaries. In 2009 her narrative short “The Hooker and the Transvestite” won 1st prize in the Filmaka “Hard Times” contest judged by Werner Herzog, Zak Penn and Paul Schrader. From 2007 onward is co-principal of San Telmo Productions which produces original content and provides production services for companies such as Nat Geo, History, BBC, HGTV, A&E, Warner Bros, Nike, LG Electronics and Gatorade. She splits her time between Argentina, New York and California and is developing new high-impact documentary films.
