Mark Elson has experience in photography, film and television. Currently Mark is working as an author and photographer on “Illusions So Real,” a book on Civil War reenactors. He has expanded the project and has directed a promotional reel for a documentary film of “Illusions.” Mark directed and co-produced Fashion Police, a pilot for a television show based on a syndicated “Fashion Police” column. Prior to that Mark was part of Jim Pasternak’s Film Directing Workshop, where he directed and filmed several scenes from “Blood and Money,” an original dramatic screenplay. Mark also studied directing with noted acting teacher Milton Katselas and actor Jeff Tambor. Out of those workshops he directed the play “Geography of a Horse Dreamer” by Sam Shepard, which was performed at the Matrix and Skylight theaters in Los Angeles. Mark’s film editing experience includes such films as Top Gun, Predator, House II, Pet Sematery, Wildflower, Secret Admirer, and the television shows thirtysomething and Class of ‘96. Through these projects he’s worked for various film and TV companies including Paramount, Orion Pictures, New World Pictures, Lifetime Television, Kaleidoscope Films, and PBS. The American Film Institute granted Mark a scholarship for a directing fellowship. Mark was also given a scholarship to study photography at the Center for Creative Studies /College of Art and Design in Detroit.
