FELIPE BARRAL MOMBERG - BIO Felipe Barral Momberg is a Chilean artist. He is a writer, musician, artist, photographer, producer & filmmaker. An iPoet. Has a Master degree in Philosophy and is also a journalist. He lives in the United States and is working as an Assignment Editor/Producer in CNN en Español in Atlanta, where he also hosts and produces a weekly segment called Juego de Palabras (Play on Words). He covers art, culture & literature, interviewing artists and doing packages that air in shows within CNN en Español. He has produced documentaries for that channel as well. The balance between art and reality have become the source of his ideas. At an early age he start developing his own voice in colors, music and words. In a certain way, he recovered the vision of Leonardo da Vinci about the man like a complete being; a creative being able of the unthinkable thing. He express himself through his poems and novels, his music and his paintings, creating multimedia as well. VISUAL ART 2008 - IGNI the movie (film) Felipe Barral Momberg is producing his first movie on the concept of iPoetry. Is the manifest of the iPoet, where the script is based on his poems & the soundtrack is composed and performed by the author. He is working with a talented group of animators, actors & producers. 2008 - Macondo a los ojos de Leo Matiz (Documentary) - Macondo through the eyes of Leo Matiz Felipe Barral Momberg is producing a documentary for CNN en Español about the colombian photographer Leo Matiz and how he put on film the “magical realism” that colombian author Gabriel García Marquez made famous around the world. 2008 - El Legado Poético de Gabriela Mistral (Documentary) - The Poetic Legacy of Gabriela Mistral Felipe Barral Momberg is producing a documentary for CNN en Español about the poetic legacy of chilean poet Gabriela Mistral that was unveiled in the United States after 40 years. The segment airs every Friday in the prime time show “Panorama Mundial con Patricia Janiot”. 2007 - “CNN en Español 10th Anniversary Special Show” Felipe Barral Momberg co-produced the special show that celebrated the 10th anniversary of CNN en Español. The segment airs live every Friday in the show “Encuentro con Daniel Viotto” on CNN en Español. 1999 - Nosferatu Felipe Barral Momberg produced, directed, shot and edited the video clip “Nosferatu” that was released when he wrote the soundtrack for the 1922 silent movie “Nosferatu” by german master F.W. Muranu. Felipe Barral Momberg released the album with the same name that year. 1998 - Múrberon Felipe Barral Momberg produced, directed, shot and edited the video clip “Múrberon” that was part of the exhibition of the poems and photographs of his book “Múrberon: el verdadero papel de la poesía”, published that year. PUBLICATIONS 2008 MAP, STOCK & US The author is working on a trilogy of novels: MAP (de Militares a Pajaritos), STOCK and US (Under Siege). The series is the quest of CNN Journalist Santiago Kovalsky, who first try to leave both the stories about 9/11 (both in Chile and in the United States), but then realized he never can escape his destiny, finding through unique characters the real identity of those who make the world spins. 2008 COPITO & FRIENDS - Children’s book series The author is working in a Children’s book series designed around characters that his father used to tell him when he was a child. Now Felipe Barral Momberg is telling new stories based on those characters to his own children. 2006 POETRY AS THE INNER LANGUAGE OF THE THOUGHT This is the thesis the author wrote at the end of his Master in Philosophy. COMPOSITIONS 2008 MÚRBERON, the True Paper of Poetry Felipe Barral Momberg is working on a rock symphony composed specially for the bilingual edition of Múrberon, that mix both the powerful rock guitar, bass & drum of modern rock with fragile passages of acoustic & classical guitar. The symphony has 3 movements, each of them with 5 parts or songs. 2007 FLORA ELECTRONICA SOUNDTRACK Felipe Barral Momberg composed & recorded the music for the project Flora Electronica, made by students of Ali Mazalek’s Experimental Media class at Georgia Tech. Flora Electronico was part of the Listening Machines 2007 exhibition. Flora Electronica is an electronic garden inhabited by artificial plants equipped with sensors and actuators that acts as a real-time media performance space. 2006 FUGATAR -A Revolution of one- Fugatar is Felipe Barral Momberg’s band. His musical alter ego. All the lyrics, music and art design is done by the artist. A Revolution of One is their first album. 2003 ANALYA’S WEDDING Soundtrack composed for the wedding of Analya Céspedes & Phillip Dupont in Washington, DC. 2002 THE LAST RITE Soundtrack composed for the short movie The Last Rites, by director Miguel Letelier. This film was broadcast on the IFC Channel and several festivals around the world. 2002 THE BEGGER Soundtrack composed for the short movie The Begger, by the director Miguel Letelier, specially to be performed live with the screen of the movie. 1999 NOSFERATU Soundtrack composed for the silent film of the German master F.W. Murnau: Nosferatu (1922); sponsored by the Federal Republic of Germany. Felipe Barral Momberg did a two-month tour performing the music live with the film in 16mm.
