A graduate of one of the UK’s better film schools, Koen has dedicated half his life to working as a director, writer, producer and photographer, primarily in the field of documentaries. His interest resides in socially engaged projects. With his documentary CASTING (2006) he became the first Dutch filmmaker to be nominated for a Spanish Academy Award (Goya). His current feature documentary KARLA'S ARRIVAL, co-produced by ITVS, is travelling the international featival circuit and was distributed to 11 countries. Always easy-going, Koen is an educated, cultured, multi-tasking, decisive and positive person. He has traveled five continents and resided in four countries, the past 15 years in Spain. Koen is father of two children: Paula and Ana.
