Pepe Urquijo received his MFA from the School of Visual Arts Social Documentary Film Program in New York City. He is also a Rockefeller Media Fellow and his previous work experience includes Discovery Channel’s “San Quentin Film School” and PBS's Documentary Series “Truly CA”.
Pepe has curated for Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco and various other film festivals in the Bay Area. He has taught & shared digital storytelling with scores of youth from Oakland to San Francisco and together, they have produced hundreds of short stories.
Pepe is inspired by the hero twins Hunahpu & Xbalanque plus other unsung/unknown heroes of the America’s. His favorite documentary is a three-way tie between “Tire Dié, “Burden of Dreams” and “Megacities”. He will one day be a coffee snob.
