This 4-panel strip board is designed for a commercial shoot. The panels have a shallow pocket along the top and bottom to hold the Cast Header and Colored Strips.
A traditional film production board or production strip board is a cardboard chart holding color-coded strips of paper, each containing information about a scene in the script. The strips, called production strips, can then be rearranged and laid out sequentially to represent the scene order that the Assistant Director (AD) will schedule the film. The sequential order of the production board will be in perfect sync with the shooting.

Not sure this is the best place to post, but I recently began making short profiles of creative people and organizations. Not sure if it's become a viable niche market yet, but it's something I'm good at and want to make more. I have embedded my latest video on the humor artist, Rick Parker called 'Finding Humor in Art.' To get an idea of the type of work he does, he recently finished the satiric comic, 'Harry Potty.'

We are a quarter of the way through shooting a doc "Life In The Balance" which lifts the veil on a testing procedure that helps tailor cancer treatment to the individual. This is single handedly changing the way cancer is treated in America. We are gearing up to pitch to networks and are presently re-cutting the trailer as well as putting together a 20min sample of film. We are looking for a graphic designer to help us simplify some of the heady subjects in our documentary "Life In The Balance", which highlights a testing procedure that tailors cancer medication to the individual, taking the guess work out of treatment. We will need you to start ASAP as we are in the process of re-cutting our trailer and will also need your expertise in shaping 20 min sample we are cutting of the film. We would like to get the trailer finished within a month and the sample within 2 months, as we will be pitching to networks.

Nicely done, Catherine, but not sure whether you're looking to get hired to do more of your short pieces or looking for subjects to build up your collection of them (for possible distribution?). Can you tell us more about what your plans are?
Thank you Doug. I'm glad you liked it. To answer your questions, both really. I hadn't thought about creating a compilation piece but it definitely is food for thought. Also, I want to mention that I'm not just interested in creating films for artists but also any person who creates something unique and valuable in some way – chef, teacher, gardener, founder of an organization that helps others or a cause or creative endeavor, artisans, a filmmaker that creates a unique approach to filmmaking (like you???) – I have also made short videos nonprofits/NGOs and looking for more opportunities to do that too.
Currently I'm planning to make a few short films – one about someone who continues to do hand engraving, while machines are taking over and another about a man who builds clocks.
Below I have posted another video I made for the World Wide Orphans Foundation that I shot in Haiti. The founder is Jane Aronson who's been getting a lot of press coverage lately. It's only about 5 minutes. I'd love it if you can take a look at it.
One last thing that I know you can help with since you are the webmaster extroardinaire for the D-Word. How do I customize my settings so I receive an email when somebody responds to my posts. I have it set up so I'm emailed the post after mine but these are not always responses but posts that are on different topics.

Call for entries, Paley Center Pitch Workshop. Deadline Aug. 31
The Paley Center for Media in Manhattan is now accepting entries for its 12th annual documentary pitch workshop for emerging directors with work-in-progress films. The late entry deadline is Wednesday, August 31.
This is a competition for a $5,000 finishing grant for a relatively new documentary directors (two or less projects) with a project they've started but haven't finished. This year's sponsor is The Documentary Channel.
To apply, you'll need to submit ten minutes of selects from your project. PCM chooses five finals to pitch their projects in Manhattan in late October in front of an audience and a panel of judges, who choose the winner of the grant.
Looking for documentary/reality TV series teachers for the Fall. You'd be teaching in The Documentary Program of The New York Film Academy, which is different from other college programs in a few crucial way. Most importantly, classes do not have to meet at the same times each week and rarely require an entire semester's commitment.

Our July DocuClub will take place on Tuesday, September 20, 7 p.m., at DCTV, located at 87 Lafayette (at Walker).
This month, we will screen a rough cut of ZIPPER by Amy Nicholson. On a small rented lot in Coney Island, Eddie Miranda proudly operates a 38-year old contraption called the Zipper. When the property is sold, Eddie becomes the victim of a power struggle between an opportunistic developer and the City of New York over the future of the famous amusement park. A story about politics, greed, land use and public policy, ZIPPER chronicles a critical period in Coney Islandâ€™s history and examines the impact of economic development on an American icon.
Director/Producer Amy Nicholson's first non-fiction film, BEAUTY SCHOOL, a wry portrait of the New York School of dog grooming, premiered at Hot Docs in 2002 and aired on PBS and the Documentary Channel. Her following documentary, MUSKRAT LOVELY, premiered at the Hamptons International Film Festival and went on to screen at Silverdocs, the Florida Film Festival, and Brooklyn International, among others. It was also broadcast nationally on the 2007 season of Independent Lens. She has also directed several commercial projects and consults as an advertising creative director. ZIPPER is her third film.
Co-Editor Jonah Moran has edited the award-wining Sundance Channel series ICONOCLASTS with director Joe Berlinger, and the ambitious Discovery Channel series SAN QUENTIN FILM SCHOOL, with Bruce Synofsky. Co-Editor John Young is commercial editor at Homestead Editorial. A graduate of Tisch School of the Arts, he has cut 30-second spots for major multinational advertising clients like MTV, ESPN, Chevrolet, Lâ€™Oreal, Reeseâ€™s and Verizon Wireless (â€œCan you hear me now?â€).
