MUSIXINE INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FILM CONTEST IN FINLAND SEP 5-9, 2007

Oulu Music Video Festival introduces MusiXine International Music Film
Contest into its film programme, making MusiXine the burning point of
the upcoming festival. MusiXine adds a new dimension to the OMVF scene
that already includes music videos, special screenings and air guitar
battling. The contest will be arranged during the 14th edition of the
festival on 5-9 September, 2007.

MusiXine is a contest for films on music, music making and related
phenomena, and the MusiXine Main Award for the best film in tune
totals *10,000.

As an annual part of the Oulu Music Video Festival from now on,
MusiXine will showcase the latest trends in music film. The contest
will aim to encourage new film artists, their work and ideas, bring
out the music film as an art form and serve as a forum for screening
films on various music phenomena. In MusiXine, films will be evaluated
for their cinematic merit in the context of music film, and the most
important evaluation criteria for a successful work are the film's
insightful treatment of its topic and its artistic achievements.

More information on how to submit your film at www.musixine.com. Pump
up the beat and participate! You have time 'til 8 June, 2007.

TRAILER MECHANICS: HOW TO MAKE YOUR FUNDRAISING TRAILER?
An All-Day Workshop with Fernanda Rossi, The Documentary Doctor
Saturday, May 12

If you are a documentary filmmaker, at some point, you are going to
need to make a trailer for your film...especially if you are trying
to raise funds. Nobody knows more about the ins and outs of trailers
than story consultant Fernanda Rossi, who will be coming to
Washington DC as a special guest of Docs in Progress.

Also known as "The Documentary Doctor," Rossi has doctored over 150
documentaries, fiction scripts and fundraising trailers including
this year's Academy Award Nominee Recycled Life by Leslie Iwerks.

This day-long seminar will help documentary producers, directors,
writers and editors:

* Learn the foundational story structures for fundraising trailers.
* Uncover the most common mistakes filmmakers make when making their
trailers.
* Think about the purpose of trailers in a whole new way.
* See and discuss case studies of trailers before and after doctoring
and (in the best Docs in Progress tradition!) get and give feedback
on several participants' trailers.
