This is a distributor screening for Irish and UK distribs. All U.S.
distribs have passed and I am assuming all the rest will too....
This is our final effort to find a distributor. I am now focusing on
self-distributing the dvd. We are in need of funding for it. "Home"
was completely self financed and I'm unable to continue financing
it. So if anyone is interested in seeing the film, or has any ideas
on who in Ireland we can approach for funding or invite to this
screening, please let us know. I don't have the funds to make it to
the screening, so I won't be there, but you can reserve a seat with

DOCS IN PROGRESS – TUESDAY, MARCH 27, 2007

Docs in Progress is a bimonthly film series in Washington DC where
documentary filmmakers screen their works in progress for the public.
Screenings are followed up by a feedback session with the audience.

Oulu Music Video Festival introduces MusiXine International Music Film
Contest into its film programme, making MusiXine the burning point of
the upcoming festival. MusiXine adds a new dimension to the OMVF scene
that already includes music videos, special screenings and air guitar
battling. The contest will be arranged during the 14th edition of the
festival on 5-9 September, 2007.

MusiXine is a contest for films on music, music making and related
phenomena, and the MusiXine Main Award for the best film in tune
totals *10,000.

As an annual part of the Oulu Music Video Festival from now on,
MusiXine will showcase the latest trends in music film. The contest
will aim to encourage new film artists, their work and ideas, bring

We are seeking an Outreach Director for our PBS/Sundance funded
documentary film, PROJECT KASHMIR.

From directors Senain Kheshgi and Geeta V. Patel comes PROJECT KASHMIR
– a feature documentary in which the directors, two American friends
from opposite sides of the divide, investigate the war in Kashmir and
find their friendship tested over deeply rooted religious biases they
never had to face in the US. PROJECT KASHMIR explores war between
countries and war within oneself by delving into the fraught lives of
young people caught in the social/political conflict of one of the
most beautiful, and most deadly, places on earth – Kashmir.

The goal of the PROJECT KASHMIR outreach strategy is to create
awareness and increase understanding of the conflict in Kashmir; to
generate interfaith dialogues in the United States and to encourage
communities to become active in organizations working to promote
conflict resolution, religious tolerance and peace building in regions
of conflict, especially Kashmir.

The Digital/Online Marketing & Outreach Director will work closely
with director/producers Senain Kheshgi and Geeta Patel to develop and
implement online PR, advocacy, and release strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Develop and implement online PR and content strategy for PROJECT
KASHMIR Campaign to amplify our reach online and to grow our e-
subscriber list ?

o Coordinate and e-produce house parties around the world.
o Research and implement web-based PR and marketing activities
including blogs, tagging, social networking, viral marketing, search
engine marketing, text messaging and other forms of electronic
communications.?

o Monitoring blogs and Web sites (South Asian, Conflict Resolution,
film, faith, human rights/social change etc.) to identify
opportunities for PROJECT KASHMIR campaign.?

o Update and maintain PROJECT KASHMIR presence on social networking
sites like MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, etc.?

o Develop new Web and organizational partnerships to publicize PROJECT
KASHMIR campaign - link exchanges with other sites, mailing lists,
website discussion areas, online newsletters, web press, etc.?

o Oversee Web site administration including attracting more user-
contributed content, updating sections of the Web site and overseeing
the upload of videos ?

o Create and send email newsletter ?

o Manage email database ?

o Set up affiliate marketing relationships and liaison with DVD
distributor and fulfillment house

o Evaluate and report on the popularity and effectiveness of the
campaign and Web site traffic?

o Additional duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will have:?

o Enthusiasm and passion for PROJECT KASHMIR, the issues at its core,
and spreading the message around the world.?

o Interest in online engagement, public interest advocacy or
campaigns, film, as well as experience in an Internet or web-based
role, including online organizing, Web site development, implementing
online campaigns, online PR, blogger outreach.
?
o Familiarity with Kashmiri, Indian, Pakistani, Hindu, Muslim
communities is a bonus.

o Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel),
web publishing tools, as well as Internet research skills?

o Ability to juggle multiple tasks under deadlines

o Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in
written format, with staff, media and external partners

The videographer will sit in front of (and to the side of) their Mini
DV camera which is mounted on a stationary tripod. No lights are
required. The finished unedited miniDv tape will be sent directly to
Sagas who will pay within three days of receipt and review. Sagas
will pay $250 for each interview with an additional premium applied in
certain areas. Sagas has created a variety of training and self-help

The Tank is a non-profit visual and performing arts organization
located in the heart of Tribeca that is currently accepting rolling
submissions for our two monthly film series New York Experimental and
New Documentaries.

Film @ The Tank
The Tank's film and video series screen new work from emerging
filmmakers and video artists, as well as films and videos from
established independent image-makers. We screen all genres and lengths
on 16mm, DV, DVD, and VHS, including live multimedia performance events.
The mission of The Tank is to provide a welcoming, creative,
collaborative, and affordable environment for artists and activists
engaged in the pursuit of new ideas. Through a wide range of low-cost,
high-concept arts and public affairs programming, The Tank seeks to
cultivate a new generation of audience for live performance, civic
discourse, and the work of emerging artists.

Submissions
To submit a film for consideration, please mail a DVD (if possible
without menus), pertinent production information, a description of the
work and a short artist biography. The suggested submission fee is
$5.00, but no artist will be turned away due to lack of funds. For

exploring what she cheerfully calls her “messed-up self” required
a bit more input.
In “Flying: Confessions of a Free Woman,” Ms. Fox takes her issues
on the road,
soliciting advice from female friends in more than a dozen
countries.
In the process, she learns that she is not unique.

Part personal diary, part transglobal slumber party, “Flying” is a
six-hour exploration of modern
womanhood humming with talk of men. During kitchen-table chats and
late-night meltdowns,
women as diverse as an Egyptian journalist and an Indian civil
rights lawyer struggle to
control their finances and their fertility.

Turning narcissism inside out, Ms. Fox uses her own romantic
crisis — a rocky impasse
between a married South African lover and a sweet Swiss boyfriend
— to connect,
sometimes hilariously, with women whose choices are far less
luxurious. Her humility
is the film’s strength; employing a technique she calls “passing
the camera,”
the filmmaker shares point of view to create a living
conversation.

Hi, the Full Sail Real World Education Documentary Film Society is
looking for documentary filmmakers in the Orlando area who would like
to speak at a Q&A event for aspiring documentarian film students. We

With a special focus on Documentary, there are several films for audiences interested in exploring non-fiction film.

HOLD ME TIGHT, LET ME GO, is a must see for anybody who works or is looking to work with children with behaviour problems or film students interested in Documentary making. This observational documentary by famed director Kim Longoniotto looks at a boarding school in Oxford for excluded children who suffer severe emotional trauma.

RETURN TO GOREE is a lively documentary following the journey of Senegalese singer Youssou N’Dour as he traces the history of music from West Africa to countries of the African Diaspora. The film interweaves history, music and investigative documentary styles in an accessible and fascinating portrait.

Director Nick Broomfield again crosses the line between fiction and documentary with his film BATTLE FOR HADITHA, which re-creates the events of a battle between US-Marines and Iraqi civilians in 2005. Renowned for his maverick documentary-practices, Broomfield here uses the fiction genre but his employ of non-professional actors and real situations make for an interesting discussion of blurring fiction/non-fiction boundaries.

All films are facilitated by an education professional and will include Q & A with the director or specialist speaker.

(and great artist) Lucinda Williams in concert. It's a no budget

London International Documentary Festival 2008
- A Conversation in film

CALL FOR FILMS

PocketVisions is calling for film submissions for the expanded London International Documentary Festival (LIDF) - A Conversation in Film, 2008. The festival is presented in association with the London Review of Books, and with the support of the British Museum. 2008 sees a continued association with The Margaret Mead Film and Video Festival (New York).

The LIDF will run for 6 days between Monday 31st March, and Saturday, April 5th, 2008. The opening and closing night gala screenings and reception will take place at the British Museum. Other venues include the Barbican Centre, the Curzon Soho, the Renoir Cinema and the Roxy Bar and Screen.

The call for submissions goes out to an international field of applicants. All successful applicants will be invited to be present at the LIDF. We are looking to support new and innovative filmmaking talent, and to ask filmmakers to participate in a series of intertwining ‘conversations’ to be run alongside the screenings. These ‘conversations’ will involve academics, journalists, policy-makers, NGOs, and other cultural commentators.

The LIDF is calling for documentary films produced between January 1st 2006 and December 6th 2007, and is particularly, although not exclusively, interested in films that fall within the following categories:

* Environment
* Human Rights
* Memory/history
* Ethnography/anthropology
* Politics/Philosophy/Economics
* Heritage and the Arts
* Other social and development issues

Submission Procedure: Film-makers can enter their films, pay entry fees and find out how to submit their DVD or VHS preview copy at http://www.lidf.co.uk

Once the on-line submission has been made entrants will receive a confirmation email and a unique Entry Reference Number.

Deadline for Submissions: 6th December 2007
Late entries accepted until 30th December with penalty (see regulations). Films can only be returned if the ‘return fee’ is included in the submission.

Selected films from the LIDF will be automatically submitted for selection to the Margaret Mead Film and Video Festival, November 2008.

I don't have anyone to recommend, unfortunately, but I did work as an editor at an Architecture magazine here in Toronto that takes a huge interest in sustainable architecture. They run a Green issue every year and it's thoughtful. Really parses what we mean by green and doesn't seem to be after the ad dollard like a lot of publications. (I'm not quite sure why the Topic Cops erased your post in "Shameless Self Promotion" because many, many others have done the same thing; and as far as double-posting goes, i think it kind of makes sense for you to post both in the public and private topics b/c not all members read the public postings...)

College football may be best known for the frenzied competition for top recruits. But what of the local students who want to play for the team? With no full rides offered, these kids work part-time jobs to pay for their tuition. Trampled daily and sold on the hope that after a season or two, they might catch the coach's eye, these walk-ons are not ready to let go of their dreams to go further than the practice field.

SILVERDOCS CALL FOR ENTRIES!

SILVERDOCS 2008 is open for submissions, seeking films that celebrate
the creative vision of independent filmmakers and the power of
documentary to expand our world-view and enhance our understanding of
the events around us.

Now entering its sixth year, SILVERDOCS has been hailed as the ’pre-
eminent US documentary festival” (Screen International) and as “non-
fiction nirvana” (Variety). The Festival features 100 films,
representing over 45 countries, and awards over $50,000 in cash and
prizes.

Documentaries should have been completed on or after March 2007, and
not screened on television or theatrically in the US prior to the
Festival.

SILVERDOCS is also accepting documentary grant proposals for the
$10,000 ACE (Animal Content in Entertainment) Grant for theatrical,
television, or new media projects featuring animal-related content.
