Hello D-worders,

This is a short documentary that I will be trying to exhibit/submit to film festivals this year. The title is THE GOLDEN SCHOOL, which centers around a Madrassa (school) in Quiapo, Manila. The running time is around 25 minutes. More info of it, here

Any suggestions regarding what festivals to send it?

Raymund, you already posted this in the Festivals topic (a much more appropriate place for it) and we really try to discourage double postings. Trust that people really will find it if it's in the right topic.

Seeking assistant editor for a one and half week gig starting Monday, May 21, near Columbia University in Manhattan.

The position is unpaid, but an opportunity to work with two award winning filmmakers on a very cool film shot in Africa.

The film follows the recent presidential elections in Senegal that started off with a great deal of turmoil and evolved into a fascinating story.

Production is complete and we are editing a 15 minute work sample to use in seeking additional funding for post-production.

Candidates must be smart, have knowledge of final cut pro, ability to pull selects and edit basic scenes.

Our next DocuClub screening will take place on Wednesday, May 23, at 7p.m., at 92YTribeca, located at 200 Hudson Street @ Canal. This month, we will screen a rough cut of THE INTERNET MUST GO by Gena Konstantinakos. The moderator will be Arts Engine’s own Marilyn Ness.

THE INTERNET MUST GO is an online film-based campaign designed to ignite a national conversation about threats to the open Internet. At its center is a comedic documentary about a fictional character on a misguided mission to take the power of the Internet back from regular people, and restore it to corporations.

If you’re a DocuClub member planning to attend, please RSVP to
docuclub@artsengine.net.

If you're not a DocuClub member and plan to attend, please buy tickets at:

About the Filmmaker:

Gena Konstantinakos is an award-winning documentary producer and cinematographer whose work has appeared on ABC News (Peabody Award-winning Hopkins, Boston Med), MTV (Emmy Award-winning MADE), MSNBC (CINE Award-winning Lockup: Getting Out), PBS (NOW with Bill Moyers, Life 360), Discovery/New York Times (Politics and the Media), in independent films, and elsewhere. She has a passion for stories that shed light and inspire positive change.

About the Moderator:

Marilyn Ness is a two-time Emmy Award-winning documentary producer. Before joining Arts Engine, Marilyn founded Necessary Films in 2005, directing short films for non-profits and developing documentaries for broadcast. Her most recent film BAD BLOOD: A CAUTIONARY TALE broadcast nationally on PBS in 2011. Prior to that, Ness spent four years as a producer for director Ric Burns, collaborating on four award-winning PBS films: ANSEL ADAMS; THE CENTER OF THE WORLD; ANDY WARHOL; and EUGENE O’NEILL.
