Hey D Folks,

I'm looking to teach doc filmmaking at a university or community college in the NYC area. I have taught 7th graders to prison inmates how to make docs for over a decade and I have an MFA. Any leads on programs that are looking for assistant professors or lecturer's would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

sinseriously,
-Pepe

NEW PODCAST EPISODE POSTING TODAY!! My podcast "The Real Stuff" is a series of interviews with the makers of unscripted tv and film.  You can listen to it streaming on my site www.darrencoyle.com or subscribe to it on iTunes.

My guest this episode is John Gyovai.

John is a documentary filmmaker living and working in Washington, D.C.

John has been following in his father’s footsteps as a filmmaker, but didn’t go to school to study film.  He got a job in the business, and has simply learned along the way.  But John has a loftier goal other than making good films.  John’s goal is simple: change the world.

John doesn’t want to change the world with his films, he wants to teach the world how to make their own films so that everyone has a voice and tells their story.  At least he keeps it realistic.  And he has been doing a pretty good job of it – traveling around the world telling stories and teaching filmmaking.

Hi D-Worders.

I am fellow documentary director and shooter and our production company FILM FOR THOUGHT just bought a fantastic C300 package we are willing to rent out to our documentary colleagues during our shooting schedule downtime.

We bought the camera since it's so light, modular, very unobtrusive and easy to professionally color-correct with its C-log setting. It's an amazing A-roll interview camera that rivals the RED. And most importantly – it has an unmatched low-light capability (we did professional tests and the camera held with minimal natural-looking grain up to an ISO of 6400) .

We are using the camera around 1 or 2 days a week which means it's available quite a bit. I have no interest in renting out the camera package to a big rental house but rather have it stay within the documentary community.

[ ] C300 EF Mount
[ ] 16-35mm Lens (L-series)
[ ] 24-105mm Lens (L-series)
[ ] Arri Baseplate
[ ] 15'' Rods
[ ] Genus Shoulder Mount that doesn't interfere with the tripod face plate
[ ] 3 Cards (2x16 Gigs, 1x32 Gigs Sandisk UltraPro = 164 minutes continues shoot time)
[ ] 3 Canon Batteries
[ ] Cartoni Focus HD Fluid-Head Tripod

If needed I can get you these additional lenses and audio gear:
[ ] Canon L-series 70-200mm
[ ] Canon L-series 50mm Prime
[ ] Canon L-series 85mm Prime
[ ] 2 Lavaries
[ ] Sennheiser Boom
[ ] 2 Lectrosonics Wireless systems

[ ] Plus we have a 5D Mark III as a matching B-camera package if you need a second camera.

We are based in Downtown LA but can deliver and pick-up. And our friend rate is 20% below the current rental market price. If you are interested, please send me an email to: contact[at]filmforthoughtinc[dot]com

Thu 28 Jun 2012Link

hey everybody, Kevin Hallagan again. I just launched a kickStarter campaign to raise funds for the first documentary of my career. It's going to be a wild ride and extremely difficult, but I know I can do it. here's the link: http://kck.st/N3Ni9c

My documentary is not just about Binghamton, Ny, it's about how economics and the environment are codependents whose sum is overall living quality. I'm using Binghamton as a representation of many areas in the United States that got hit hard by the recession, but instead of it being a story about loss and hardship it's a story of hope for the future.

Please check out my link and spread it around the internet. i need to get it seen by as many people as possible if I want to reach my goal by July 27.

Thanks D-Word!

-Kevin

I'm selling my Sony NEX FS-100 (body only) and replacing it with a NEX FS-700.
The camera is one year old and is in perfect condition.

Description:
The NEX-FS100 is an interchangeable lens camcorder featuring a Super 35mm sensor equivalent in size to a Super35mm film camera (same as PMW-F3).

With a lens adapter, it will except almost any 35mm lens... including Nikon, Zeiss, Sony, Minolta and Canon.
