We are seeking an Outreach Director for our PBS/Sundance funded
documentary film, PROJECT KASHMIR.
From directors Senain Kheshgi and Geeta V. Patel comes PROJECT KASHMIR
a feature documentary in which the directors, two American friends
from opposite sides of the divide, investigate the war in Kashmir and
find their friendship tested over deeply rooted religious biases they
never had to face in the US. PROJECT KASHMIR explores war between
countries and war within oneself by delving into the fraught lives of
young people caught in the social/political conflict of one of the
most beautiful, and most deadly, places on earth Kashmir.
The goal of the PROJECT KASHMIR outreach strategy is to create
awareness and increase understanding of the conflict in Kashmir; to
generate interfaith dialogues in the United States and to encourage
communities to become active in organizations working to promote
conflict resolution, religious tolerance and peace building in regions
of conflict, especially Kashmir.
The Digital/Online Marketing & Outreach Director will work closely
with director/producers Senain Kheshgi and Geeta Patel to develop and
implement online PR, advocacy, and release strategies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Develop and implement online PR and content strategy for PROJECT
KASHMIR Campaign to amplify our reach online and to grow our e-
subscriber list ?
o Coordinate and e-produce house parties around the world.
o Research and implement web-based PR and marketing activities
including blogs, tagging, social networking, viral marketing, search
engine marketing, text messaging and other forms of electronic
communications.?
o Monitoring blogs and Web sites (South Asian, Conflict Resolution,
film, faith, human rights/social change etc.) to identify
opportunities for PROJECT KASHMIR campaign.?
o Update and maintain PROJECT KASHMIR presence on social networking
sites like MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, etc.?
o Develop new Web and organizational partnerships to publicize PROJECT
KASHMIR campaign - link exchanges with other sites, mailing lists,
website discussion areas, online newsletters, web press, etc.?
o Oversee Web site administration including attracting more user-
contributed content, updating sections of the Web site and overseeing
the upload of videos ?
o Create and send email newsletter ?
o Manage email database ?
o Set up affiliate marketing relationships and liaison with DVD
distributor and fulfillment house
o Evaluate and report on the popularity and effectiveness of the
campaign and Web site traffic?
o Additional duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will have:?
o Enthusiasm and passion for PROJECT KASHMIR, the issues at its core,
and spreading the message around the world.?
o Interest in online engagement, public interest advocacy or
campaigns, film, as well as experience in an Internet or web-based
role, including online organizing, Web site development, implementing
online campaigns, online PR, blogger outreach.

o Familiarity with Kashmiri, Indian, Pakistani, Hindu, Muslim
communities is a bonus.
o Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel),
web publishing tools, as well as Internet research skills?
o Ability to juggle multiple tasks under deadlines
o Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in
written format, with staff, media and external partners
START DATE: July?
TYPE OF POSITION: This is likely a eight-month part-time position but
could be longer (beginning with a trial period)?
LOCATION: ideally LA or NYC but not necessarily?
SALARY: Commensurate with experience
