NPR.org is looking for a creative video producer and filmmaker with
passion and skills for working in multiple media to join the talented
team that is turning NPR.org into one of the premier news, music and
information sites on the Web. Help develop the stories and strategy that
translate NPRs signature style of in-depth storytelling and journalism
to a new medium. This is a full-time union position in Washington, DC.

LOOKING FOR AN ICON Opens at Film Forum, May 9!
Tickets are available now for the upcoming limited engagement of
LOOKING FOR AN ICON screening with THE DAY YOU'LL LOVE ME (El Dia Que
Me Quieras). Both films examine the significance, from historical to
emotional, behind iconic photographs of the last century. CBC News
said of ICON, "Much more than the story of four photographs... It is
also an exploration of the meaning and importance of photojournalism
itself." The two-week run begins on May 9 at New York City's Film Forum.

Ad Hoc Art Space Tuesday May 29, at 7 p.m. Come enjoy beer and wine,
meet fellow filmmakers, and learn more about the collectives upcoming
BROOKLYN FILMMAKERS COLLECTIVE is a group dedicated to creating and
advancing an active filmmaking community in Brooklyn, New York. The
collective focuses on weekly peer workshops where members present
their works-in-progress and receive feedback, support, and ideas from
other group members. Films and videos created by BFC members are
promoted and marketed through special screenings at film festivals,

From directors Senain Kheshgi and Geeta V. Patel comes PROJECT KASHMIR
a feature documentary in which the directors, two American friends
from opposite sides of the divide, investigate the war in Kashmir and
find their friendship tested over deeply rooted religious biases they
never had to face in the US. PROJECT KASHMIR explores war between
countries and war within oneself by delving into the fraught lives of
young people caught in the social/political conflict of one of the
most beautiful, and most deadly, places on earth Kashmir.
The goal of the PROJECT KASHMIR outreach strategy is to create
awareness and increase understanding of the conflict in Kashmir; to
generate interfaith dialogues in the United States and to encourage
communities to become active in organizations working to promote
conflict resolution, religious tolerance and peace building in regions
of conflict, especially Kashmir.
The Digital/Online Marketing & Outreach Director will work closely
with director/producers Senain Kheshgi and Geeta Patel to develop and
implement online PR, advocacy, and release strategies.
o Develop and implement online PR and content strategy for PROJECT
KASHMIR Campaign to amplify our reach online and to grow our e-
subscriber list ?
o Coordinate and e-produce house parties around the world.
o Research and implement web-based PR and marketing activities
including blogs, tagging, social networking, viral marketing, search
engine marketing, text messaging and other forms of electronic
o Monitoring blogs and Web sites (South Asian, Conflict Resolution,
film, faith, human rights/social change etc.) to identify
opportunities for PROJECT KASHMIR campaign.?
o Update and maintain PROJECT KASHMIR presence on social networking
sites like MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, etc.?
o Develop new Web and organizational partnerships to publicize PROJECT
KASHMIR campaign - link exchanges with other sites, mailing lists,
website discussion areas, online newsletters, web press, etc.?
o Oversee Web site administration including attracting more user-
contributed content, updating sections of the Web site and overseeing
the upload of videos ?
o Create and send email newsletter ?
o Manage email database ?
o Set up affiliate marketing relationships and liaison with DVD
distributor and fulfillment house
o Evaluate and report on the popularity and effectiveness of the
campaign and Web site traffic?
o Additional duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have:?
o Enthusiasm and passion for PROJECT KASHMIR, the issues at its core,
and spreading the message around the world.?
o Interest in online engagement, public interest advocacy or
campaigns, film, as well as experience in an Internet or web-based
role, including online organizing, Web site development, implementing
online campaigns, online PR, blogger outreach.
o Familiarity with Kashmiri, Indian, Pakistani, Hindu, Muslim
communities is a bonus.
o Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel),
web publishing tools, as well as Internet research skills?
o Ability to juggle multiple tasks under deadlines
o Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in
written format, with staff, media and external partners

customers the ability to record personal history video interviews with
individuals and small groups anywhere in America. You can think of

SAGAS was founded by David Hoffman, a veteran documentary Filmmaker

Shortly, we will begin promoting SAGAS nationally. SAGAS will build a
national brand, supported by a professional marketing campaign. This

When SAGAS receives an order, we will email the job description to
each registered Videographer that is willing to work in the area code
that the interview will take place. The first response accepting the
job will get the job. SAGAS will be careful not to over saturate the
videographer pool in any given location. This will ensure that
registered interviewers get their fair share of the work. So register
Shooting a Sagas video interview is simple. It is a one hour
interview; the entire call should not take more than 3 hours. No
editing is involved. When the Videographer accepts the job, they
receive the subject's contact information, and a one-page paper from
the customer that describes questions or topics that the customer
would like raised. The shoot style consists of an informal interview.
The videographer will sit in front of (and to the side of) their Mini
DV camera which is mounted on a stationary tripod. No lights are
required. The finished unedited miniDv tape will be sent directly to
Sagas who will pay within three days of receipt and review. Sagas
will pay $250 for each interview with an additional premium applied in
certain areas. Sagas has created a variety of training and self-help
tools, including demo interviews conducted by Hoffman. These should
help you to become a more skilled interviewer.
In two months, Sagas will go live and begin offering its services to
customers across the nation. We will begin promoting SAGAS nationally

The Tank is a non-profit visual and performing arts organization
located in the heart of Tribeca that is currently accepting rolling
submissions for our two monthly film series New York Experimental and
Film @ The Tank
The Tank's film and video series screen new work from emerging
filmmakers and video artists, as well as films and videos from
established independent image-makers. We screen all genres and lengths
on 16mm, DV, DVD, and VHS, including live multimedia performance events.
The mission of The Tank is to provide a welcoming, creative,
collaborative, and affordable environment for artists and activists
engaged in the pursuit of new ideas. Through a wide range of low-cost,
high-concept arts and public affairs programming, The Tank seeks to
cultivate a new generation of audience for live performance, civic
discourse, and the work of emerging artists.

One film is an eye-popping look at masked superheroes who fight to free an overcrowded Mexico City from tenant evictions, animal cruelty, gay bashing and other social ills. The other is a documentary classic, stripped down and retrofitted with a new soundtrack by Ken Thomson, performed by New York avant-jazz vikings Gutbucket. Both come courtesy of the True/False Film Fest, a group of upstart Midwesterners hellbent on showcasing all that is new,nontraditional and genre-defying in nonfiction filmmaking.

Thanks Doug for the gentle slap on this newbie's wrist-- I guess I got a little too excited about getting in on the launch of the new-and-improved D-Word. This led to me wanting to repackage the True/False announcement in sonnet form, Haiku, free verse, and algebraic formulas, scattered all through the site. But I will now keep those to myself, now that I know this rule. See you next week.
