Posting this for a friend - he can be reached at: kevindowns1@gmail.com

I'm headed to NY next week to shoot my close friend
(and great artist) Lucinda Williams in concert. It's a no budget
shoot - a labor of love. But she's one of the best in the country at
what she does. And she rarely lets anyone videotape her, so this is
an extremely rare event.

I'm looking for camera operators willing to work for little to no pay
- basically for the love of the music. In return they get to witness
one of the best live acts in the country today. These shows also
promise a series of special guests. (I just finished shooting 5
nights in LA - guests included Emmy Lou Harris, Robbie Krieger ((the
Doors)), Mike Campbell ((Tom Petty's band)), Steve Earl and more.)

It's a perfect opportunity for an AC or operator who wants to add
some celebrity footage to their reel. And it's an even better opportunity for
anyone who loves shooting good music. She's playing 5 nights in NY. 2 at Irving
Plaza Sept 29 and 30. 3 @ Town Hall Oct 2-4.

http://www.lucindawilliams.com/shows.php

One last thing - we're shooting mini DV. 24p. 16:9 aspect ration.

Do you or someone you know want to get paid to write about your
experience at the Hamptons Film Festival, London Film Festival or the Hollywood Film Festival? We're looking for someone to be our "Festival Tour Roadie" who can submit some blog entries for
our website.

For example we had Robert Ell, the talent booker for Dailies, do the one
from Toronto.

It's just a way to get a little local color on the site.

Have a great weekend!

Tamra, do you want anything from DOK Leipsig? Email me if so please. When I go down it will be to concentrate on the target country co-production meetings that last about two or three days. But the week-long festival is celebrating its 50th and has what sounds like a wonderful range of films. Worthwhile getting someone else, if not me, to write about that.

London International Documentary Festival 2008
- A Conversation in film

CALL FOR FILMS

PocketVisions is calling for film submissions for the expanded London International Documentary Festival (LIDF) - A Conversation in Film, 2008. The festival is presented in association with the London Review of Books, and with the support of the British Museum. 2008 sees a continued association with The Margaret Mead Film and Video Festival (New York).

The LIDF will run for 6 days between Monday 31st March, and Saturday, April 5th, 2008. The opening and closing night gala screenings and reception will take place at the British Museum. Other venues include the Barbican Centre, the Curzon Soho, the Renoir Cinema and the Roxy Bar and Screen.

The call for submissions goes out to an international field of applicants. All successful applicants will be invited to be present at the LIDF. We are looking to support new and innovative filmmaking talent, and to ask filmmakers to participate in a series of intertwining ‘conversations’ to be run alongside the screenings. These ‘conversations’ will involve academics, journalists, policy-makers, NGOs, and other cultural commentators.

The LIDF is calling for documentary films produced between January 1st 2006 and December 6th 2007, and is particularly, although not exclusively, interested in films that fall within the following categories:

* Environment
* Human Rights
* Memory/history
* Ethnography/anthropology
* Politics/Philosophy/Economics
* Heritage and the Arts
* Other social and development issues

Submission Procedure: Film-makers can enter their films, pay entry fees and find out how to submit their DVD or VHS preview copy at http://www.lidf.co.uk

Once the on-line submission has been made entrants will receive a confirmation email and a unique Entry Reference Number.

Deadline for Submissions: 6th December 2007
Late entries accepted until 30th December with penalty (see regulations). Films can only be returned if the ‘return fee’ is included in the submission.

Selected films from the LIDF will be automatically submitted for selection to the Margaret Mead Film and Video Festival, November 2008.

For further information or questions see the official LIDF web-site: www.lidf.co.uk or email: info@pocketvisions.co.uk

We look forward to seeing your films.

Hi Soo Kim,

I don't have anyone to recommend, unfortunately, but I did work as an editor at an Architecture magazine here in Toronto that takes a huge interest in sustainable architecture. They run a Green issue every year and it's thoughtful. Really parses what we mean by green and doesn't seem to be after the ad dollard like a lot of publications. If you would like me to pass on the name of an editor there for a potential interview, I'd be happy to do so. Best of luck in your search!
