OPEN CALL FOR THE 2012 KAREN SCHMEER FILM EDITING FELLOWSHIP
The fellowship is designed to help emerging editors in both doc and fiction by developing their talent, expanding their creative community, and furthering their career aspirations.
If you've edited at least one feature film (over 60 minutes) and are based in the US, we'd love for you to consider applying.
Deadline: September. 30, 2012 (earlier than last year)
Our 2011 Fellow, Erin Casper, has had an amazing past few months as she's attended the SXSW and IFFB film festivals, both ACE EditFests in New York and Los Angeles, met with editors Jean Tsien and Geof Bartz for career and craft advice, and received a shipment of books and DVDs from Powell's. Her first doc feature, "Our School," is showing at film festivals around the world. Lately she's been working with Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady on a new doc project. She's written about some of these experiences in blog entries on our site: http://www.karenschmeer.com/index.php/Blog/ More posts to come soon.
In addition to our continuing partnerships with ACE, Manhattan Edit Workshop, SXSW, IFFB, Stranger than Fiction, and Docuclub, we’ve added a $1000 cash award and a new partnership with Rooftop Films.
