In reply to Mark Barroso's post on Fri 8 Aug 2014 :
We'll email Peter G and see what he has to say, Mark. But have to agree offhand with John's analysis.
I was thinking of sending a note to d-word professionals in Oakland & SF. Is there a way to send a memo to those folks en masse, or export a list of emails, or would someone have to send an individual email to each person?
Vivian, if this is about the F2F for the 15th anniversary, I can send it for you. Just email me what you want in the email.
Hey, trying to post a YouTube video in Doc Films, but no worky :(
It should worky if you take out the https and replace with http.
Is it possible to change the "99+ new posts" setting back to show me the actual new post count? I understand that some people have some sort of psychological block with seeing a big number there, but I actually like having that information. Helps me decide which thread to catch up on first.
Yes! It seems way more overwhelming to see "99+" on every topic instead of actual numbers.
lol, you think so, Mikal?
For me, that is not the issue. The issue is when I read on The D-Word for about an hour then come back later and it is still 99+. Then I read and read and go back to the home page and still 99+. Dang dang dang.
But it is definitely better than 1200 posts to read. At least 99+ gives me hope that I will catch up :P
With the new features to be added to The D-Word, users will have the option to turn the 99+ on or off, Andy :)
Hi. I came her through a space-warp port opened up by Erica Ginsberg. I was told to say I can't edit my topics in my settings page. I get the message:"Topic not found. Either it does not exist or you do not have permission to view it."
I just tried it again, btw, and got this message: "You have posted too much idiotic bullshit today. This is your punishment. Go back to work."
That was an idea for The D-Word revamp. (Not that you can read this)
We'll e-mail Peter in case he isn't checking in here. I know Mark had the same question a few weeks back.
One request for the d-word redesign: When I copy and paste some text from d-word into a word doc, I don't just get the text- I get a background color that makes it very hard to read. If there's any way to make it so that copy and paste only copies the text, that would be great.
Have you tried Paste Special in Word (from the drop down)? I find that is usually a workaround when pasting weirdly formatted text.
In reply to Christopher Pavsek's post on Tue 23 Sep 2014 :
Peter Gerard reports he fixed the bug. I double-posted in Bar since Pavsek wasn't able to access this topic.
I posted in Shameless Self-Promotion a couple of days ago and now I don't see my post at all – did I fail to actually post it or was it deleted for some reason?
I'm a little confused about what the blue tallies next to each topic represent.
I was hoping it would be a tally of unread posts for that topic. On some topics, this appears to be the case, and when I return to the main page after viewing the unread posts in the topic, the blue number disappears.
What's confusing is that other topics seem to not register which posts I've read. If a topic has a number of "39" next to it, for example, and I read all the new postings and return to the main page, I find that the number hasn't changed.
What if you refesh the page? Does it still remain?
You're right, though. It is number of unread posts.
Yeah, even if I refresh or access using a different browser, the count keeps showing that there are unread posts, even though all the individual posts within the topic thread have gone from white to grey.
It's strange because on certain topics, the unread post counts do seem to be responsive right away.
It's fine, I can manage; I was just getting confused about what those numbers are supposed to show...
