Welcome to The D-Word, Frauke! Meeting you and Eric last week was a real highlight of my week in Berlin, so it's great that we'll get to see each other here from time to time. Or maybe we can lure you to join us in NYC on Aug 11 for The D-Word's 12th birthday bash ;-)
Introduce Yourself: Sign In Here First
Welcome to The D-Word! Stop in and sign the guest book - let us know a little (or a lot) about yourself.
Please note that this is one of our Public Topics, so best to enter email addresses with (at) to prevent them being harvested. Spam will be deleted.
Dear Doug, August 11 is also Eric's birthday AND the beginning of the ancient Mayan calendar... But unfortunately I'm afraid we won't make it to NY so soon...
Ok, nice excuses so we'll let you off this time. Just two words for you: Film Forum. And two others: Fingers crossed.
Great to see all these introductions. Right now I guess I don't have too much to say about myself, but I have worked in production for a few years, now. I love storytelling, educating, and allowing people to tell their stories.
Right now, I am looking at creating a transmedia project that would be ongoing. I just need to get things ready to apply for grants. So, if you have any suggestions, please throw them my way.

Isn't The D-Word's birthday in September?
Hello all – I am film composer who was introduced to D-Word by friends at the 2011 Silverdocs Festival, where my film, "Long Way Home: The Loving Story" was screening with HBO. Feel free to give a shout out if there is anything I can help you with on the musical front. I will be at the party tonight and am very much looking forward to meeting you all. My D-Word link is here:
David, terrific to see you here. It was great to make your acquaintance at Silverdocs – and as I told you then, I think the music for The Loving Story plays an eloquent, effective role in a very powerful film.

Frauke and Eric are fine filmmakers. Congratulations on the new film and welcome to The D-Word...
And keep us posted on your progress, Frauke. Did you ever hear from the Film Forum?
So nice to hear from you, John and Doug!
We haven't tried the film forum yet, but will be in New York for a few days in September...
Email me, Frauke, and let me know your dates. Would be nice to meet up again, if you'll have the time.
I'm a long time camera man with experience working on a handful of documentaries. I'm living in the Republic of Panama for the next few months but will return to the states and enter grad school seeking an MFA in documentary issues. I'm writing, photographing, and supporting the research of my girlfriend, a sociologist here in Panama.
Hello! I'm a beginner filmmaker. I'm working on a feature length film, 'Army of the Unemployed'(working title, a film by Immy Humes) as an associate producer. Recently I moved to New York from South Korea and just finished film school course here. During the course I had great experience to make short doc films in totally new place. Still I have interesting stories to tell so I'm trying to survive here as a filmmaker. I used to work mostly by myself like shooting, editing and producing. So I look forward to chances to collaborate with great people.
Greetings and welcome, Lahoe. Immy's great, you're lucky to be working with her.
Thank you Doug! Immy just asked me tell you 'You're the best!!!':)
I recently completed my first documentary short entitled "Porters on the Stone of God". The film focuses on the social justice issues surrounding the tourism and mountaineering industries on Mt. Kilimanjaro. My fellow producer and I shot the film on a very small grant, but we are now gearing up for festival submissions. I'm new at this so I would appreciate any input. We recently launched the film on Vimeo: http://www.vimeo.com/27746760.
Looking forward to getting to know the community here.
Hi, folks! Just wanted to drop a line and introduce myself to you. I'm a documentary filmmaker who moved this past month from Los Angeles to New York City (clearly, the most timely of moves :-) I've recently completed work on my first feature, "Tales of the Waria"– an ITVS-funded project that follows a community of transgender women in Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim country. The film's making its way around the festival circuit right now and will be airing on PBS next spring.
When not working on my own projects, I freelance as a shooter on other independent docs and TV docu-series. If you’re in need of a shooter with a strong producing background, please feel free to contact me. Hope to meet some of you in the area real soon!
Welcome to The D-Word, Kathy. So you're the one causing all these "events", eh?
Welcome to the cult, Kathy. I can't wait to see your film (everyone else should, too), and you again for that matter. Apply to Full Frame and I'll buy that beer I owe you.
HI this is kesang, a Documentary film maker. Currently am working on a documentary titled "She Speaks"( actually it was my thesis project). Its about Women in Bhutan(Have you heard of it?)and why women in Bhutan pray/desire to be reborn as men in their next life! despite being in a matriach country.I want to make it into a bigger production, hence looking for co-producer who can help me financially. Also looking for grants...
Nice to have you join us, Kesang. A co-producer who can help you financially is a nice wish. Generally it's you who helps a co-producer financially.
Thanks Dough! i didnt know that!!! well that means i guess i should concentrate more on my grants. Any way thanks for the warm welcome, i look forward to interacting with you more.
Hi my name is Joe, I'm in the development stage of my first feature length documentary.
