Hello, I am yet another documentary filmmaker looking for a
community! I was based in NYC for 4 years doing a wide range
projects and films, and I recently came home to Bogota, Colombia
with the hope to tell so many untold stories from here that go
beyond the drugs, the crime, and our 50 year war. Anybody else in
Latin America with the same interests? Gracias!

Well, Adriana, me, for starters. I work as journalist and producer
(soon will add "film maker", hopefully) in Brazil. Latin America is
my point of interest.

I currently work for NHK as producer for Latin America.

Do you have anything on your mind already?

I just wanted to introduce myself to the group. I live in NYC and am currently working on a
Boxing Documentary. I should be wrapping up the shooting in the next 2 months and then
it is time to sit down and edit all of these hours of interviews, footage and photos

women empowerment, health communication campaigns, distance

the documentary world. Within, the next 12 months I plan on starting
my documentary. My topic will be about the last year of a 16 year-
old life which happens to be my brother.

Hey Everyone,
I'm in Chicago IL and have completed three short films. My friend
and I are about expand our scope and are looking for a little help.
In the s[ring of 2005 we're going to take a 1 - 2 week trip
somewhere in the world and film the whole thing. We're looking for
an experenced videographer / one man film crew who is willing to

I am currently living in melbourne Australia, working in post production. I am originally
from South London been here for 2 years now. Currently putting together a documentary I
plan to shoot when I visit London next year, about an ex boxer turned actor friend of

I just joined this D community and would like to say hello.

For the past three years myself and an international team have
been working on an interactive documentary project entitled
Jerusalem: A Living History.

It has been a slow process, as it always is with independent
work, but we making progress and as we start the final testing
and evaluation process, we would very much like feedback,
comments, suggestions......

My name is Elka Nikolova and I am an independent producer/director
based in New York. I am currently working on a documentary about
Binka Zhelyazkova, the first woman film director in Bulgaria, where
I am originally from. I am working on revising my script after I
shot some more material in Bulgaria over the summer and I am in need
of forum to share ideas and experiences. I also hope to find a
mentor to advise me on the next steps of this wonderful and at times
difficult process.

My name is Juliet Dervin and I've been working on documentary films and interactive
media for over four years here in Austin, Texas. I'm looking forward to learning from the
community, especially now that I'm about to launch into my own work, transition from
working for others (as associate producer, grant writer, researcher, story producer) and
proceed apace with my own stories (my development file needs to

My name is Austyn Steelman and I was recommended to the D-Word forum through my
cousin, a documentary filmmaker who has found the forum to be a great resource
throughout the production of her film. I am an independent filmmaker from California
and am in the process of launching my own documentary which will focus on the work of
two very talented musicians from Minneapolis, Minnesota. This documentary will be the
biggest project that I have worked on so far so I am happy to have found this resource. I
look forward to gathering knowledge through the forum as well as contributing what
knowledge I can.

hello everyone
I am a filmmaker based in new delhi, india. 12 years back i stared my
journey in films with a expose' on the malpractices of Delhi
development authority- an organisation responsible for development of
Delhi. Since than it has been a exciting and a very charged trip. I
got the oppurtunity to show my films on the national television also-
censorship has now become a greater evil than what it was earlier on
TV. Though with digital tech the budgets have come down but the funds
have virtually disappeared for making the kind of film one wants to
make. International funding and invite to the film festival too is
not without it's politics and networking. but we go on. would like to
share my experiences and learn more from this place.

Hi, I am a documentary director from South Africa, working in
Johannesburg on development issues. I have made a few films on
HIV/AIDS and how it affects communities. I also make a lot of
educational films for broadcast. At the moment I am making a short on
mental disability. I would love to chat to other directors about
interesting ways of structuring doccies, as I think the classic
interview/ cut-away style can become quite staid. Looking forward to
hear from you all!
