- Synopsis
In 1993, a step ahead of the demolition crews, Rick Lowe and six other African-American artists board-up two blocks of abandoned houses in inner-city Houston, painting on the boards for a guerilla art exhibit. They stay to become an internationally-recognized model for community renewal and local transformation, “Project Row Houses”.
But their success attracts deep-pocket developers, threatening to destroy what has been achieved. Their creative response to this new challenge surprises many—and may just work.
