Bio
Hannah Engelson is a documentary filmmaker and media artist whose work focuses on character-driven narratives using an observational shooting style. She experiments with techniques such as stop-motion animation and time lapse, and documents sleep in order to explore our shared vulnerability and the inward imaginative life.
Hannah has created work for a variety of contexts including newspapers, non-profits, production companies and local governments, although she likes to consider her career a series of professional field trips.
She received her BA concentrating in Journalism, Film Studies and Digital Humanities from Michigan State University and her MFA in Media Arts from Emerson College. Currently she is a freelance cinematographer and documentary filmmaker splitting her time between Brooklyn and Boston.
