Bio
Born in Vancouver, Canada, raised in a small California town, then off to various places before college work: Chico (English), UC Santa Barbara (history), Columbia (history). I have worked as a dishwasher, dirt packer, weed puller, apricot picker, museum curator and director, professor, teacher, father and film maker. I live in Venice, California, with my wife and three daughters, a cat and a dog.
